Balochistan Human Capital Investment Project-Health

The Health Department, Government of Balochistan is determined to ensure provision of quality health services which has remained a challenge for the Government of Balochistan. The Balochistan Human Capital Investment Project is one such step toward resolving this long-standing issue.

The project focuses on the districts of Quetta, Killa Abdullah, Pishin and Chagai while realizing the fact that refugee influx in these districts have affected the ability of the Health Department to provide quality delivery of primary health care services.

Under the project 24 Health Facilities will be focused to be equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and ambulances, 4 BHUs will be upgraded to Rural Health Centers, establishment of blood bank and hostel facility for females in chagai, hiring of Gynecologists, Lady Medical Officers, General Surgeons and capacity development of allied health human resources such as paramedics and Community Health Workers.

Through these activities access to improved and sustained health care services will be ensured for the general public and refugees alike.

I would like to thank the Government of Balochistan for entrusting me with this crucial task to implement a project of this magnitude and the World Bank for assisting the province to improve service delivery.

BENEFICIARIES

The GOB has identified improvement of service delivery in targeted areas and systems strengthening as the two guiding principals of this project.

The direct project beneficiaries will be children, adolescents and women of reproductive age with a focus on refugees and host communities.

INTERVENTIONS

The project aims to improve utilization of quality health services in selected refugee hosting districts of Balochistan by investing to fill supply and demand side gaps and strengthening service delivery systems through improve management and governance.
